Instructions on how to easily clean and sanitize a dirty water hyacinth basket at home.

Step 1: Remove any dry dirt from the surface of the mesh.

Use a household vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust from the zigzag weave of the water hyacinth basket. If you don't have a vacuum cleaner, you can use an old, soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub along the fibers to remove any dry dirt.

Step 2: Wipe clean with a damp cloth mixed with diluted vinegar.

Dilute a few drops of white vinegar with warm water (1 part vinegar to 5 parts water). Vinegar acts as a mild, natural disinfectant, helping to remove musty odors and clean stubborn stains. Dip a soft microfiber cloth into the solution, wring it out thoroughly (leaving it slightly damp), and gently wipe the entire surface of the basket.

Step 3: Deal with stubborn stains (tea, coffee, grease)

For tea or coffee stains, use a cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol to gently wipe the stain. Absolutely do not use strong chemical detergents or soak the water hyacinth basket directly in a basin of water, as excessive water will rot the fiber structure and cause the woven basket to deform and lose its shape.

Step 4: Dry completely in wind or gentle sunlight.

After cleaning, take the water hyacinth basket out to air dry in a well-ventilated area with gentle sunlight, or use a hairdryer on the cool air setting to completely dry the product. Only when the basket is completely dry should you store items inside to prevent the risk of mold returning.
